Jon is the founder of Woodsong’s Lutherie.  In 1981, after graduating from the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery, he decided Boulder, Colorado was the place to settle and open a shop.  

The owners of Folk Arts Music on Broadway Street, were kind enough to offer a space with-in the store for a repair business… and so it began.

In 1985, Jon purchased the music store from Ned and Laurel Alterman and the name of the store was changed to H.B. Woodsongs. After managing both the retail and repair aspects of the business for six years,  Jon determined that his true desire was to focus on Lutherie alone.  

The retail side of the store was sold, and became two separate businesses that co-exist beautifully to this day,  Woodsong’s Lutherie and H.B. Woodsongs.  The demand for services steadily grew over the years, and partners were brought in to meet the demand.
